The Unyielding Spirit of Utsa

Redefining Value, One Handmade Craft at a Time

Utsa For Change
Utsa Isn’t Just an NGO or a Charitable Ecommerce Platform

The primary purpose of Utsa is to show the world that women in remote villages can dare to dream big. All they need is a little push, a little collaboration from the ones living a relatively modern life in the cities.

However, we also manufacture handicrafts that can compete on a global stage. Each Asan, each candle is meticulously made by the women of Jara with care, skill and a rich legacy.

Driving Equal Access To Opportunities

We promise to open more doors for the people of Jara and empower them with possibilities and a higher glass ceiling

01

Inclusive Income Generation

The core purpose of Utsa is to bring income opportunities to the people of Jara. This doesn’t just include selling. It includes upskilling, supply chain building and more.

02

Skill-to-Market Pathway

We pair hands-on craft training with business skills: quality control, simple bookkeeping, packaging standards, and digital selling basics.

03

Equal Opportunity For Artisans

Women artisans of Jara often have lesser access to market and income opportunities. We are here to change that by creating a level playing field where their work commands fair value.

Meet The Hearts (and Brains) Behind Utsa

Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is simple – if the women at Jara can’t access opportunities, we will bring opportunities to them! That doesn’t just include access to markets – it includes upskilling, confidence-building and giving them a voice.

Buy From Utsa Not as a Charity – Buy Because We Provide Authentic Handicrafts That Speak The Language of Bengal and India

At Utsa, we believe true empowerment happens when artistry can drive value for the buyers. Buyers should be able to get value for every paisa they spend. Products sold by the women of Jara are authentic and 100% handmade. Our artisans, predominantly rural women, pour generations of tradition and skill into each piece, creating handicrafts that are not only beautiful but also tell a story—the vibrant, soulful language of Bengal.
